Benue: Court remands OrDubuDeli over alleged attack on SGF’s residence in Makurdi

A Magistrate Court in Makurdi has ordered that Mr. Haakyav Tombu Peter, widely known as OrDubuDeli, be kept at the Makurdi Correctional Facility. He is facing serious accusations connected to terrorism and robbery.

Before this development, Peter had complained to the Benue State Commissioner of Police that he was attacked on Sunday at Judges Quarters in Makurdi, during which his mobile phone was stolen.

However, at the state police headquarters, a counter-petition came up against him. It alleged that he led an attack on the residence of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) in Makurdi, together with some unidentified accomplices.

He was later arrested and taken before the court, which refused to release him on bail because of the weight of the allegations. The court then ordered that he should remain in custody.

His lawyers have already submitted a bail request, and the application will be heard tomorrow.

The case has sparked strong public interest, with many people waiting to see if the court will approve his bail or not.
