Galatasaray have confirmed that their star striker Victor Osimhen has suffered an injury while on international duty with Nigeria.
The 26-year-old had to leave the field in the 35th minute of Nigeria’s 1-0 win over Rwanda, with Cyriel Dessers coming on as his replacement.
This setback also meant he missed Nigeria’s important match against South Africa in Bloemfontein.
The Turkish Super Lig champions revealed on their official website that Osimhen has sprained his ankle and is already receiving treatment.
The club said that examinations at their partner hospital showed a moderate sprain, with ligament stretching and some bleeding. Treatment has started to help him return to the pitch as soon as possible.
Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk admitted that the news was disappointing, as Osimhen’s absence is a big blow to the team.

The club will now face Eyupspor in league action this weekend before starting their UEFA Champions League campaign with an away game against Eintracht Frankfurt next week.
