Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has stepped in to settle disagreements within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Ife Federal Constituency as the 2026 elections approach.
According to his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the peace deal was reached on Monday during a major reconciliation meeting that gathered top stakeholders of the ruling party.
Governor Adeleke explained that the recent crisis was mainly caused by poor communication among members and external forces trying to create division within the party.
He advised party members to stay alert and resist any attempts aimed at weakening their unity.
“From what I observed today, the PDP family in Ile Ife is truly one. I noticed the main issue was lack of proper communication and also some outsiders trying to cause confusion,” Adeleke stated.
The governor encouraged leaders to strengthen mobilisation efforts, reminding them that his government has already delivered many benefits to the Ife community and will continue to do more.
“Ile Ife has always been a PDP stronghold. Go back home, keep the momentum alive. I appreciate our leaders, chairmen, elders, and grassroots members. Let’s continue to work hard for the success of our party,” he added.
State PDP Chairman, Sunday Bisi, described the vote of no confidence that sparked the dispute as a mere “family issue.”
“All stakeholders have shown genuine commitment to the party. We are happy that all matters have now been resolved. The outcome of this meeting is that all statutory meetings should resume, and members should avoid actions that may be seen as anti-party activities,” he said.
Those present at the gathering collectively declared that the disagreement had ended, pledging to work together for victory in the coming elections.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi, Deputy Senate Minority Leader Senator Lere Oyewumi, State Chairman Sunday Bisi, Secretary to the State Government Teslim Igbalaye, Chief of Staff Kazeem Akinleye, Commissioners’ Forum Chairman Alhaji Ganiyu Olaoluwa, and several other senior PDP leaders.
It would be recalled that the PDP leadership in Ife Federal Constituency had, last Monday, passed a vote of no confidence on Deputy Governor Adewusi and two other chieftains, accusing them of working with former PDP members who had defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In response, Governor Adeleke later reaffirmed his confidence in Adewusi and his political activities.
