2027: I’ll never align with Tinubu to become Lagos Governor – Rhodes-Vivour

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party’s governorship candidate in Lagos during the 2023 elections, has firmly stated that he will never work with President Bola Tinubu in order to become Lagos Governor in 2027.

Speaking on Politics Today, a Channels Television program, Rhodes-Vivour said such an alliance would be a complete waste of time.

He explained that he would rather focus on his family, personal work, and business than pursue a political path that does not reflect his vision.

According to him, politics should be about making the lives of Lagos residents better and restoring the city to the greatness it once had, though many people today may not know much about that history.

He added that any political group that does not allow him to use the state’s wealth for the benefit of its people is not worth his time.

Rhodes-Vivour further emphasized that Lagos would be a better place if the dominance of what he called “agberocracy,” a system rooted in street thuggery, is completely removed.

The politician also confirmed that he recently left the Labour Party for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in order to create a stronger challenge to the ruling party.

He disclosed that Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, was aware of his decision before the move was made.

When asked if he would run for Lagos governorship under the ADC in 2027, Rhodes-Vivour replied with confidence, saying “by God’s grace.”
