Rude passenger booted off American Airlines flight after telling attendant to ‘shut up’

A passenger was kicked off an American Airlines flight this week after telling a flight attendant to “shut up” during the pre-flight safety briefing. The incident happened on Tuesday on a flight from Costa Rica to Dallas and was captured on video, which quickly went viral on Instagram.

The footage shows the woman interrupting the safety instructions and telling the attendant to be quiet.

In response, the flight attendant calmly asked, “Do you want to get off the plane? I don’t feel comfortable if you aren’t following instructions,” according to the video.

When the passenger claimed she “couldn’t hear” the announcements, the attendant dismissed the excuse, saying, “You’re not listed as someone with hearing issues. I’ll ask the pilot to remove you since you’re not cooperating.”

The situation escalated when the passenger also refused to turn off her phone. After a tense exchange, she was escorted off the aircraft by the crew. The video was posted by fellow passenger Jay Crenshaw, who joked about enjoying an empty middle seat.

He later told reporters he sympathized with both sides, noting that the woman was clearly having a bad morning but still knew she was wrong. “We’ve all had bad days and said things we regret,” he said, “but she just happened to be filmed.”
