Politics is fraught with betrayals — Jonathan

Former Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, has said that the country’s political scene is filled with betrayals and dishonesty.

Jonathan made this statement on Thursday, September 4, while attending the 70th birthday celebration of his former Chief of Staff and ex-Edo State deputy governor, Chief Mike Oghiadomhe, in Benin City.

The birthday celebration attracted many notable figures, including former governors Lucky Igbinedion, Osarhiemen Osunbor, Adams Oshiomhole, and Ibrahim Dakwambo of Gombe State.

Speaking at the event, Jonathan praised Oghiadomhe, calling him a reliable friend and a trusted ally.

He further explained that betrayal is a common part of Nigerian politics, where people often fail to stand by their words.

Reflecting on his 2015 election experience, Jonathan said he witnessed several acts of betrayal but Oghiadomhe remained loyal, even willing to put his life on the line for him.
