Phyna’s sister: ‘We arranged to fly her to India’ – Dangote reacts as Ruth dies

The Dangote Group has said it was already making plans to fly Ruth Otabor, sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner Phyna, to India for advanced medical treatment before she sadly passed away.

The company disclosed this in a statement on its official X account on Sunday while also sending condolences to Ruth’s family.

It will be recalled that her death was earlier announced by her family the same day.

Ruth lost her life after she was hit by a Dangote Cement truck along the Auchi road in Edo State.

The accident had caused both her legs to be amputated before she eventually died.

Before her passing, Phyna had accused Dangote of failing to keep its promise of sending her sister abroad for treatment.

But in its condolence message, Dangote explained that arrangements had already been made to fly Ruth to India once her doctors gave medical clearance, but sadly she died before the process could be completed.

The company said it was deeply saddened by her death and described it as a painful loss caused by the road accident involving one of its trucks.

It added that since the accident, its officials and insurance partners had been covering her medical expenses and supporting the family.

Dangote also noted that everything was in place for her to be moved to India for further treatment, but unfortunately she passed away before the transfer could take place.
