Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, who represents Borno South, has condemned the latest Boko Haram attacks on Ngoshe in Gwoza Local Government and Mussa in Askira/Uba, which claimed several lives over the weekend.
In Ngoshe, five farmers were killed on their farmlands on Saturday morning. The same night in Mussa, armed men invaded the community, killing three young men and setting houses and shops on fire.
Ndume described the killings as painful and heartbreaking, lamenting that innocent people, especially farmers and youths, continue to be the main victims of insurgent attacks.
He noted that the people are only trying to live in peace and earn a livelihood but are constantly targeted by terrorists.
The senator commended the Nigerian Army’s Operation Hadin Kai for their efforts but stressed that more needs to be done.
He called on both the federal and state governments to provide more soldiers, advanced weapons, and air support to protect rural communities.
Ndume further urged residents to remain alert and work closely with security forces, emphasizing that unity, vigilance, and resilience are essential in the fight against insurgency.
