Manchester City are close to signing Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma from Paris Saint-Germain. The 26-year-old is expected to undergo a medical on Monday, September 1, as the club looks to complete the deal before the transfer deadline.
The move comes after City’s first-choice goalkeeper Ederson agreed to join Fenerbahce, making Donnarumma the ideal replacement.
Reports suggest the deal is worth around €30 million plus extra fees, and he is expected to sign a long-term contract with the club.
Ederson was on the bench during City’s 2-1 loss to Brighton on August 31, while young goalkeeper James Trafford impressed with his performance.
Donnarumma recently helped PSG win their first UEFA Champions League title, but he became available after failing to agree on a new contract, which led to a public split with PSG and manager Luis Enrique.
Donnarumma is expected to complete his medical in Italy on Monday before traveling to Manchester to join Pep Guardiola’s squad after the September international break.
Stefan Ortega Moreno is also likely to leave City, completing a major reshuffle of the club’s goalkeeping department.
