Woman loses twin babies after she was seen trekking while in labour over inability to pay 28K delivery fee

A pregnant woman in Abuja has tragically lost her twin babies after going through a long and difficult labor, which forced her to walk the streets trying to find money and a referral letter for delivery.

A kind-hearted passerby noticed the heavily pregnant woman struggling and asked why she appeared so exhausted. The Good Samaritan offered her a cab to ease her journey.

However, the pregnant woman requested money instead, explaining she needed to gather more funds to pay the hospital fee for delivering her twin girls.

She shared that the hospital where she planned to give birth demanded N28,000 and a referral letter from the health center where she had attended antenatal care. The referral was required because her case needed specialized attention.

The Good Samaritan quickly took action and brought her to the health center, where it was discovered that she was already in active labor.

At this point, the pregnant woman broke down in tears, saying she had not bought any baby items. When asked why her husband was not present, she explained that he was unwell.

The Good Samaritan assisted her in getting some necessary baby items, and she was admitted into the labor ward.

Tragically, an update revealed that the twins did not survive.

The heartbreaking video of the incident has gone viral, sparking nationwide outrage. It has also reignited discussions about Nigeria’s healthcare system, the need for health insurance, and the importance of financial preparation before childbirth.
