The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has closed an illegal herbal medicine factory in Kaduna State.
The facility, called SHIFA’UNNUR, is located in Mararaba Jos, Igabi Local Government Area. Mr.
Shamsuddeen Mani, NAFDAC’s Principal Regulatory Officer who led the raid, explained that the factory was operating without proper registration and failed to meet the required health and safety standards.
Mani said, “We acted quickly after receiving reliable information about this illegal herbal medicine operation.
The equipment was substandard, and the production setup was unhygienic and hidden. These products are dangerous because their safety and effectiveness cannot be guaranteed.”
He added that unregistered herbal products valued at N5 million were confiscated and will be destroyed. The facility will remain sealed as investigations continue.
Mani stressed that NAFDAC is committed to protecting public health and will continue to take strict action against illegal operations.
