Man convicted of triple murd£r put to de@th in Florida as state hits record number of execut!ons

A man convicted of killing his girlfriend, her mother, and another man over a money dispute has been executed in Florida. This marked the state’s 11th execution of the year, setting a record.

Curtis Windom, 59, died by lethal injection on Thursday, August 28, at Florida State Prison in Starke. He was found guilty of the November 1992 murders of Valerie Davis, her mother Mary Lubin, and Johnnie Lee, who he claimed owed him $2,000.

Witnesses said his face was covered by a sheet when the curtain opened. Once the drugs were given, Windom breathed heavily, his legs twitched a few times, and then he went still.

After the execution, Valerie Davis’ sister, Kemene Hunter, wore a shirt that read “Justice for her, healing for me.” She said the family had waited 33 years to get closure, adding that true vengeance belongs to God.

According to court records, a friend told Windom that Johnnie Lee had recently won money at a racetrack. Windom, who claimed Lee owed him $2,000, replied that people would soon read about him. He then bought a revolver and ammunition from Walmart before hunting down his victims.

He first shot Johnnie Lee twice in the back and again at close range. Later, he killed his girlfriend in front of a friend, shot and injured another man, and finally killed Davis’ mother while she was driving to her daughter’s apartment.

Windom was sentenced to death for the three murders and also given 22 years for attempted murder. He filed several appeals over the years, arguing that his lawyer had failed him and that his mental health struggles were ignored.

His last attempt to avoid execution was rejected by the U.S. Supreme Court just a day before his death.

A group against executions, Floridians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty, condemned the execution.

They said forgiveness and healing should come from conversations, remorse, and family connections, not from a lethal injection. According to them, his death only created more pain instead of peace.
