FG condemns immoral ‘sign out’ culture, task schools and parents to curb trend

The Federal Government has raised concern over the growing “sign-out” practice among students in secondary schools and tertiary institutions, which is being linked to immoral behavior.

At a government policy awareness event, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), emphasized the need for everyone to work together to stop this harmful trend.

Issa-Onilu, represented by NOA’s Director of Human Resources, Mrs Ayisola Olowoyo, explained that some students take advantage of the sign-out system to engage in inappropriate actions, and all stakeholders must take responsibility to prevent it.

He added that while celebrating success is normal, students must not engage in acts like exposing or touching private parts in schools, as this goes against national values.

Parents and school administrators are urged to guide and caution students, while the government plans to introduce a national charter to promote discipline and instill strong values across all sectors.
