Europe must clearly define security guarantees for Ukraine — Zelenskiy

Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, has asked European leaders to offer clear and reliable security guarantees as his country seeks a peace deal with Russia after more than three years of war.

In a virtual meeting with Polish President Karol Nawrocki and leaders from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Denmark, Zelenskiy stressed the need for a united European stance.

He said there should be a clear plan showing which countries would help Ukraine if Russia attacks again.

The meeting took place in Poland after a Russian missile strike on Kyiv killed 22 people, showing the urgent need for stronger security measures.

Zelenskiy also mentioned that U.S. President Donald Trump is pushing for peace talks and may impose new sanctions on Russia if negotiations fail.

Zelenskiy explained that Ukraine needs protection for its land, air, and sea. He said European nations must agree on how they would respond if Russia attacks again.

He urged Europe to act together and show determination to end the war, supporting Trump’s push for diplomacy.

Senior Ukrainian officials will meet with U.S. representatives in New York on Friday to discuss the security plan and a possible roadmap for peace.
