Two men, Joshua Akinitire, 24, and Taiwo Ogundeji, 25, appeared in an Odigbo Chief Magistrate Court in Ondo State for allegedly attacking a man.
They were brought before Chief Magistrate Festus Akinlolu on charges of conspiracy and assault.
The prosecution stated that the incident happened on August 18, 2025, around 2 p.m. at Jerry Sawmill area in Ore, Ondo State.
Inspector Usifoh James, prosecuting, said the defendants planned together to attack Yahaya Ibrahim. They allegedly beat him and used a cutlass to injure his fingers.
When the charges were read, the defendants pleaded not guilty.
The acts they are accused of violate Sections 516 and 355 of the Criminal Code of Ondo State, 2006.
The prosecutor requested time to review the case files and prepare witnesses for the trial.
The defense lawyer, Mr. V. A. Akinfe, did not object to this request but asked the court to grant bail for the defendants.
The prosecutor opposed the bail, arguing that the defendants might misuse it.
Chief Magistrate Festus Akinlolu decided to delay the bail ruling until the next hearing. Meanwhile, the defendants were remanded at Okitipupa Correctional Centre, and the case was adjourned to August 29, 2025.
