Singer Lil Nas X released from jail, charged with 4 felonies

Rapper Lil Nas X, whose real name is Montero Hill, was released from jail over the weekend. He was arrested on Thursday, August 21, in Los Angeles and initially charged with a misdemeanor for allegedly assaulting a police officer.

After his arrest, Lil Nas X was hospitalized due to a possible overdose, although the Los Angeles Police Department could not confirm this. On August 25, he appeared in court and pleaded not guilty to four felony charges.

These include three counts of battery causing injury to a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer, according to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office.

He stayed in custody until posting $75,000 bail on Monday and has since been released. Lil Nas X has a preliminary court hearing scheduled for September 15. If convicted of all charges, he could face up to five years in state prison.

The judge has also ordered him to attend four Narcotics Anonymous meetings per week. Police believe he was under the influence of drugs at the time of his arrest.
