Popular US comedian Reggie Carroll’ shot de@d aged 52

Reginald “Reggie” Carroll, a well-known American comedian, has tragically been shot and killed in Mississippi at the age of 52.

The comic, famous for his nationwide stand-up tours, was fatally attacked in Southaven on August 20, according to police.

Southaven Police Department reported that officers responded to a shooting call and discovered a man with multiple gunshot wounds.

Although full details have not been released because the investigation is ongoing, police confirmed Carroll’s identity and stated that he had been shot more than once.

In an official statement, the Southaven Police said:
“On Wednesday, August 20, 2025, officers responded to a shooting on Burton Lane. One male victim was found with gunshot injuries.

Despite life-saving efforts, the man died at the scene. The victim was later identified as 52-year-old Reginald Carroll from Maryland.”

Authorities also confirmed that one suspect has been arrested and charged with Carroll’s murder. They extended condolences to his family while thanking the community for their cooperation.

Carroll, known as the “Knockout King of Comedy,” was a rising star in the comedy world and was touring with Katt Williams shortly before his death.

He had previously acted in the TV film Rent & Go and appeared in The Parkers. He was also featured in Knockout Kings of Comedy and Showtime at the Apollo.

Tributes have been pouring in since the news broke. Motown Comedy paid respect, writing:
“Rest in power @comedianreggiecarroll. Baltimore has lost one of its great talents. Our prayers go to his family.”

Another comedian, Bernard Williams, shared on Instagram:
“This man inspired me to pursue stand-up comedy. He guided me both on and off stage. I owe him a lot. Rest in peace, my brother.”

Reggie’s brother, Jonathan Carroll, also wrote on Facebook:
“Thank you all for the love and condolences. Because of the sensitive nature of Reg’s passing, we ask everyone not to share details until the facts are clear. If you already posted, kindly delete. We appreciate your understanding and support.”
