Nigeria worse than country at war – Chidoka

Former Aviation Minister Osita Chidoka has raised serious concerns about the current state of Nigeria, saying the situation is even worse than that of a country at war.

During a recent interview on Channels Television, Chidoka explained that Nigeria’s level of instability today goes beyond what is usually seen in civil wars.

He noted that the number of lives lost in Nigeria can be compared to war-torn regions like Gaza and Syria, despite Nigeria not officially being at war.

Chidoka stressed that the nation is deeply hurting and urged the government to take decisive action and show strong leadership.

Pointing to the spate of killings and kidnappings across the country, he warned that the worsening security crisis is proof that the country is slipping into dangerous territory.

The former minister added that this is not the time for unnecessary blame games but a moment when the government should gather key stakeholders to find practical solutions.

Just last week, INFOLAND reported that the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, linked the recent wave of killings to the political climate ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Nigeria is currently battling terrorism in the North-East, banditry in the North-West, and persistent violence in states such as Benue and Plateau.

As reported by INFOLAND, at least 34 worshippers were killed on Monday while attending prayers at a mosque in Unguwar Mantau, Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State.

In another Channels Television interview, General Musa warned that the growing insecurity in Nigeria is closely tied to upcoming political activities.
