They Said My Tinted Glass Permit Was Fake – ZicSaloma Accuses Police Of Har@ssment

Nigerian comedian and content creator, Aloma Junior, better known as Zicsaloma, has cried out over what he described as harassment and extortion by the police during routine checks in Lagos.

He said the officers only targeted him because he drives a Mercedes-Benz.

In a video trending online, the skit maker lamented that young people with expensive cars are often unfairly profiled and treated like fraudsters.

According to him, despite holding a tinted glass permit officially issued by the police, he was repeatedly accused of carrying a fake document.

He explained that the experience was so frustrating that he is now considering selling his Benz. He said it makes no sense to be stopped more than five times in just one day.

Narrating one of the incidents, he said police officers stopped him near a traffic light, jumped into his car, and claimed his tinted permit was fake. Even after showing them proof from the police website, they refused to accept it.

When they took him to a station, the officers avoided charging him officially and instead tried to move him “behind” the building. He said things changed only when passersby recognized him and began shouting his name.

A senior officer was later called from Ajiwe Police Station. At first, the man tried to act friendly but got uncomfortable when he saw Zicsaloma recording the encounter. In the end, another superior officer allowed him to go.

He revealed that this was just one of many stops that day. On his way to Ajah Bridge, another team stopped him again. Fortunately, one of them recognized him as a comedian and asked his colleagues to let him pass.

Heading towards VGC, yet another set of officers stopped him and demanded his papers. Even though all his documents were complete, he still faced unnecessary questioning.

Zicsaloma argued that driving a Mercedes-Benz does not make someone a criminal, stressing that crimes could be committed with any type of car.

Frustrated, he said he is now ready to sell his Benz because the stress is no longer worth it.
