A shocking crime occurred in Temidire community, Ilorin, Kwara State, when the body of a pregnant 39-year-old woman was discovered dismembered on Thursday, August 21. Her husband’s brother has been taken into custody as a suspect.
The Kwara State Police confirmed the incident in a statement released on Saturday, August 23.
Police said they were alerted around 9 a.m. after a local resident reported suspicious activity at the home of Mr. Ekene Enemo.
When detectives arrived at the scene, they found the body of Mrs. Esther Enemo in a bush behind her home. During a further search, additional body parts were found hidden in a sack beneath a nearby community bridge.
A suspect, 29-year-old Sylvester Enemo, who is the younger brother of the victim’s husband, was arrested after being seen leaving the house shortly before the discovery. Mr. Ekene Enemo, the husband, has also been contacted for questioning.
The police statement said: “The Kwara State Police Command wishes to inform the public about a tragic event that happened on Thursday, 21st August 2025, in Temidire community, Egbejila Road, Ilorin.
At around 9 a.m., a resident reported a suspected crime at Mr. Ekene Enemo’s residence. Detectives discovered the dismembered body of Mrs. Esther Enemo in a bush behind the house, and other body parts were later found in a sack beneath a nearby bridge.”
The statement added that the deceased’s remains have been taken to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) morgue for autopsy.
Kwara State Police Commissioner, CP Ojo Adekimi, has directed a full investigation into the matter, promising that all efforts will be made to ensure justice is served.
The police also appealed to the public to stay calm and avoid spreading rumors that could cause fear or tension in the community.
They reassured citizens that security has been strengthened across the state to protect lives and property and urged residents to provide any helpful information to aid the investigation.
