Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Thursday assured Nigerians that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is still very much alive and not dead.
Speaking to journalists after the PDP Southwest zoning consultative meeting in Lagos, Makinde said the party remains a strong political force despite facing internal challenges.
According to him, with dedication and unity, the PDP has what it takes to return to power at the national level.
The governor also stressed that he would not lower himself to petty fights with those who choose to play dirty politics.
Makinde added that while he may disagree with others, he does not see politics as a personal battle but as part of democratic practice.
He pointed out that recent elections showed that the PDP is still relevant, as the party performed strongly in many states, securing second place in most of them.
Makinde emphasized that the party must first be strengthened and united before discussions about presidential candidates can begin.
He concluded by saying that the PDP’s main priority now is to rebuild itself into a vibrant, united party that Nigerians can trust and support once again.
