Suspected herdsmen attacked Tim village in Chakfem District, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State on Tuesday evening, August 19, 2025. The violence left five people dead and destroyed 10 thatched homes.
Several others were injured during the attack and are now receiving medical care at local hospitals.
Security expert Zagazola Makama said early investigations suggest the attack might have been revenge for alleged cattle theft in the area.
The victims have been buried according to local customs, while the wounded continue to get treatment in hospitals.
Villagers explained that security forces were slow to respond because of the region’s rough terrain, poor network coverage, and the long distance to the community.
Even though the village is currently calm, many residents are still afraid of more attacks if the root issues are not addressed.
