EPL: ‘Pay whatever it takes’ – Ian Wright urges Arsenal to keep two players for life

Wright believes that both players played a huge role in Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Manchester United in their Premier League season opener at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The only goal of the match came in the first half through Riccardo Calafiori, which was enough for Mikel Arteta’s men to silence the Red Devils in front of their home supporters.

Speaking on the Arsecast podcast, Wright said Saliba and Gabriel are vital to Arsenal’s success, stressing that their presence reminds him of the solid defence Arsenal once had in the past.

He explained that Arsenal’s famous “1-0 to the Arsenal” spirit has returned, thanks to the defensive strength and stability the two centre-backs provide.

According to Wright, their partnership is the reason Arsenal could go away to Manchester United and still come out victorious, highlighting their importance at the back.

Wright concluded by saying he would be willing to pay any price to ensure both Saliba and Gabriel remain at Arsenal for life, describing them as two of the best defenders in the club’s history.
