Aba Power, one of Nigeria’s major electricity distributors, has announced that there will be a one-week disruption in power supply across Abia State.
The company said in a statement on Tuesday that the disruption will take place from 21st to 28th August 2025.
According to Aba Power, the outage is happening because its main power provider, Geometric Power Aba Limited (GPAL), will shut down temporarily. GPAL’s gas supplier is scheduled to carry out important maintenance on its facilities during that time.
Since GPAL will not be able to generate power during the maintenance, Aba Power explained that it will rely mainly on electricity supply from the national grid to serve customers.
The company also admitted that power from the grid may not be enough to meet everyone’s needs, but assured residents and businesses that efforts will be made to share supply fairly.
Aba Power apologized for the inconvenience the disruption may cause and encouraged customers to plan ahead. It promised to keep working to provide the best possible service despite the challenges.
