Ushie Rita Uguamaye, popularly known as Raye, became an internet sensation when she spoke out about the low pay and tough conditions for corps members. She recently made headlines again after sharing her admiration for Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
Raye posted on X, saying, “Abuja has my heart. I could stare at the mountains forever. Love this city.” Her message showed her appreciation for the city’s scenery and vibe.
Some people reacted negatively, especially since Raye had previously criticized Lagos, saying the city has an unpleasant smell. One X user remarked, “Well sha no come Lagos again,” interpreting her praise for Abuja as a dig at Lagos.
Raye responded calmly, pointing out that many of the drivers who had helped her in Abuja were Yoruba, saying, “All the bolt drivers that have taken me around so far in Abuja are Yoruba people.
The way you guys behave with this your Lagos someone would believe there’s no Yoruba living in another state.” Her reply highlighted that good experiences can happen anywhere, regardless of the city.
