DNA should be mandatory before birth certificates are issued in Nigeria – Lawyer, Deji Adeyanju

Activist and lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has proposed that DNA testing should be required before birth certificates are issued for newborns in Nigeria. He believes this step could help reduce cases of paternity fraud.

In a message shared on X, Adeyanju called on the National Assembly to consider introducing a law that would make DNA tests compulsory for every child before registration.

Many people have reacted positively to his suggestion, saying that paternity fraud has become a serious problem in the country.

By introducing mandatory DNA tests, supporters argue that both parents and children would be protected from false claims, ensuring more accurate legal records.
