Recall threat: I committed no sin endorsing Otti – Reps member, Ikwechegh

Alex Ikwechegh, who represents Aba North/Aba South Federal Constituency, has dismissed the threat to recall him from the National Assembly over his support for Governor Alex Otti’s re-election. He said the move will not distract him.

The lawmaker, who was elected under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), explained that he did nothing wrong by speaking the truth about governance in the state.

In a statement released through his media aide, George Ezeikpe, Ikwechegh said he should not be condemned for pointing out the developmental and economic changes happening in Aba and other parts of Abia State.

He added that the people of Aba still support him and that he is not worried about the recall threat.

Ezeikpe further asked why Ikwechegh should be attacked for acknowledging Governor Otti’s achievements, saying the lawmaker will remain focused despite the pressure.

Meanwhile, a group known as the Aba Ngwa Indigenous Movement has warned that they will begin a recall process if Ikwechegh does not hold a town hall meeting to explain why he joined others in endorsing Governor Otti’s second term.

According to the group, led by Rowland Ajuzieogu, Adimchinobi Nwaigwe, and Jamike Ikonne, the lawmaker’s endorsement does not reflect the views or mandate of his Aba North and South constituents.
