Oseloka Obaze, a former Anambra State governorship candidate and close ally of Peter Obi, has revealed that some politicians are plotting to discredit the former Labour Party presidential candidate.
Obaze, who once served as Secretary to the Anambra State Government under Peter Obi and is now the Managing Director of Selonnes Consult, a policy and management firm in Awka, said the people behind this plan are those aiming for the 2027 presidency.
In a social media post, the former United Nations diplomat explained that the attacks are because Peter Obi is seen as the most credible presidential candidate, especially among young Nigerians.
He said, “Certain politicians with personal interests are already fighting back. They are using trolls and hidden tactics to lower Peter Obi’s reputation. Corruption is also quietly resisting him. The attacks are so well-funded that you’d think he’s the only candidate in 2027.”
Obaze added, “Efforts to undermine Obi are driven by fear. Two years before the 2027 elections, media operatives are already spreading negative stories about him.
Some pretend to support him but instead push damaging narratives, making the attacks seem stronger and more convincing.”
He pointed out that many people are scared of Obi and don’t want him in the race. However, he stressed that Peter Obi has no choice but to run.
Obaze noted, “If Obi runs, he might not win; if he doesn’t, he definitely loses. The only thing that could change the 2027 outcome is if Peter Obi chooses not to participate. But that’s no longer an option. Nigerians see him as a national treasure, just as he represents them.”
He emphasized, “The future of Nigeria depends on this. Nigerians want real leadership change, regardless of their background.
The stolen mandate in 2023 wasn’t just about Obi—it was about the votes of all Nigerians seeking progress. Next time, votes will be protected, even at great risk. This is the national mindset.”
Obaze concluded by advising Obi to run, saying, “Peter Obi’s error in 2023 may have been avoiding discussions with those who feel they ‘own’ Nigeria.
He won the support of the people but was denied victory. In 2027, it’s time for him to run and let history decide.”
