I am happy Toke is having a child but I have a problem with mixing Jesus and God with it – Solomon Buchi
Social commentator Solomon Buchi has expressed his joy over media personality Toke Makinwa expecting her first child, but he admitted he is uncomfortable with her connecting the news to Jesus and God.
Buchi explained that being a Christian or a “Jesus girl” means following God’s teachings. He emphasized that, according to the Bible, becoming a parent should happen within marriage.
He feels that planning to have a child outside marriage and then trying to justify it spiritually doesn’t match his beliefs.
In a video he shared on Instagram, Buchi said he was happy that Toke is about to become a mother at nearly 40, something she clearly desired. However, he expressed concern over how she linked her pregnancy to God, mentioning a clip from her podcast where she talked about praying to God to become a mother.
He added that Christians need to be careful about mixing God with personal choices, whether those choices are aligned with God’s teachings or not.
Buchi clarified that he isn’t criticizing the act of having a child, but he believes there’s no need to spiritually justify having a child outside marriage.
Buchi suggested that Toke could share her joy simply by saying she wanted to be a mother and is now becoming one, without connecting it to God. According to him, the Bible teaches that the proper context for parenthood is marriage.
While mistakes happen, he feels that intentionally planning a child outside marriage and spiritualizing it could be misleading.
His opinion sparked mixed reactions online. Some of his followers agreed with Buchi, while others argued that only God has the authority to judge her decisions.
