The Rivers State Police have arrested Pastor Ifediorah Onyeibor following a viral video showing him mistreating children at his church.

The footage reportedly showed the pastor stripping the children and hitting them with palm fronds during what seemed to be a “deliverance” session.

According to SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the police spokesperson, initial investigations indicate that Pastor Onyeibor had organized a three-day program for children, claiming it was inspired by the Holy Spirit and meant for “spiritual cleansing.”

“After receiving this report, officers from the Rivers State Police Command, acting on intelligence, arrested the pastor along with several church members at the location,” she said.

“A full investigation is underway to understand all the details of this case, and updates will be shared as soon as possible.”

She added that the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju, asked the public to stay calm while the investigation continues. He also urged citizens to report any suspicious activity to nearby police stations or other security agencies.

The police reiterated their commitment to protecting all citizens, especially minors, and assured that they would continue to work diligently to maintain the safety and dignity of individuals in the state.
