Singer Iyanya has stepped forward to defend his former manager, Ubi Franklin, after social media reports claimed he stole a luxury watch from a well-known jeweller during Davido’s wedding.

The allegation originated from a controversial Instagram blog notorious for stirring drama.

A man identified as Bisibalo reposted the claim, alleging that Ubi Franklin took a watch from Benny the Jeweler. According to him, Ubi had expressed interest in buying the watch but later claimed to have given it to Benny’s assistant.

When the watch could not be found, Benny allegedly threatened to involve the police and immigration. The post claimed Ubi later “found” the watch in his pocket but insisted he had no idea how it got there.

It also suggested that Davido’s team wanted to quietly manage the matter to avoid embarrassment.

Iyanya has since dismissed the claims as a complete lie, noting that the jeweller himself had publicly denied the story. He insisted that the rumour was created by people within their circle who dislike Ubi and want to damage his reputation.

The singer made it clear that he would not allow his friend’s name to be tarnished over something untrue.
