Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, has claimed that Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, was the true winner of the election.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Tonight on Monday, Lawal said his conclusion was based on information and data available to him.
According to him, the figures he saw showed Obi won, despite Bola Tinubu being declared Nigeria’s 16th president.
Lawal insisted that Tinubu did not actually secure victory, stating that he and his team closely followed the election, gathered reports, and monitored results from polling units. He alleged that some of these results were tampered with.
When asked if he had any personal issue with President Tinubu, the former SGF said his problem with the president was his attitude.
“He is arrogant,” Lawal remarked, adding that Tinubu acts as though others have wronged him, when in fact, it is the other way around.
He maintained that the president is “full of himself” and repeated his stance that Tinubu did not legitimately win the 2023 election.
