More than 70 supercars worth £7million are seized in London (Photos)

Police in London have taken away more than 70 supercars worth around £7 million. Among the luxury vehicles seized were two purple Lamborghinis, several Ferraris, and Porsches.

The weekend-long operation was carried out by the Metropolitan Police with help from the Motor Insurers’ Bureau (MIB). In total, 72 vehicles were impounded from different parts of the city.

These cars were taken from well-known areas such as Hyde Park, Kensington, and Chelsea. The joint effort between police and the MIB aimed to deal with dangerous driving and drivers disturbing the peace in busy spots.

The crackdown followed complaints from residents, business owners, and visitors about high-value cars being driven in an anti-social way.

In one surprising case, a driver of a purple Lamborghini had been in the UK for just two hours and on the road for only 15 minutes before the car was seized.

Around 75 officers took part in the operation, using technology such as Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR), predictive tracking, and special markers to find uninsured vehicles.

Special Chief Officer James Deller said the action showed the police’s commitment to responding to public concerns about nuisance driving in central and west London.

Martin Saunders, Head of Uninsured Driving Prevention at the MIB, advised drivers to check that their insurance is active, suitable for their needs, and renewed on time.

He noted that while some drivers knowingly broke the law, others lost their insurance due to missed payments, failed renewals, or incorrect policy details.
