Some armed men have kidnapped a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) who was travelling in a commercial vehicle along the Katsina-Ala–Takum highway in Benue State.
According to INFOLAND, the incident happened over the weekend when a Toyota Carina II, bearing registration number KLD 108 AA, was on its way from Takum in Taraba State to Katsina-Ala in Benue State with seven passengers on board.
The attackers reportedly blocked the road at Tsede Village, a community located on the border between Katsina-Ala and Takum, robbed the travellers, and took away the NYSC member, later identified as Saadu Dauda from Zamfara State.
The victim’s identity was confirmed after his NYSC identification card was discovered inside his bag, which had been left in the vehicle.
Security forces have started a joint operation to locate the kidnappers and secure the release of the abducted corps member.
Efforts to reach the spokesperson of the Benue State Police Command, DSP Udeme Edet, for comments were unsuccessful at the time this report was filed.
