Nigerian lady narrates how a couple she borrowed money refused to return it

A Nigerian woman took to social media to tell her story about how she helped a couple with money but they refused to pay her back. She also said the couple worked with her friend, who is related to them, to deny they ever got the loan. On top of that, they accused her of having feelings for the husband.

In her post, Amaka Lucy explained that back in 2014, she gave money to a man named Gerald to help him pay his house rent. Gerald needed to move out of his sister’s home because he was having problems with his in-laws. Gerald’s sister, who was also Amaka’s friend and neighbor, asked her to help and promised the money would be returned in two weeks since Gerald had items to sell.

Amaka said the money came from her own savings. She was saving that money to move to Lagos and share rent with a friend. She took all the cash out of her bank account and gave it directly to Gerald. At first, both Gerald’s sister and wife thanked her for the help.

But weeks passed, and the money was not paid back. After three months, Amaka said Gerald, his wife, and his sister started to say they never got the money. They asked for proof, but Amaka couldn’t provide any since she gave the money in cash. Things got worse when Gerald’s wife publicly accused Amaka of trying to get close to her husband, embarrassing her in front of people at her workplace.

The whole situation made Amaka very upset. She ended up quitting her job and moving to Lagos. She felt hurt and angry at the couple for many years. She said she cursed them often until Gerald finally blocked her phone number.

Amaka wrote in her post that Gerald and his family had been calling her nonstop, which made her think she might have to turn off her phone. She then shared the full story of how she helped Gerald pay his rent in 2014 because he was having problems with his in-laws. She explained that the money was from her sales job salary and her savings to move to Lagos. Gerald had gone with her to the bank, and she withdrew all the money to give to him. They were thankful at the time.

But two weeks later, they said the money was not available. After a month, still no payment. Three months later, they all denied she ever gave money, asking for proof which she did not have. Amaka cried and begged for even half the money so she could travel.

Then Gerald’s wife started spreading rumors that Amaka had feelings for Gerald and insulted her loudly at the plaza where Amaka worked. Amaka felt ashamed and had to leave her job, as people thought she was trying to get close to Gerald.

Gerald’s sister stopped talking to her too. Feeling hurt, Amaka moved to Lagos. She said she kept sending curses to Gerald until he blocked her calls.

Recently, Amaka’s phone rang and it was Gerald’s wife, who wanted to talk because someone was sick. Amaka was shocked and immediately blocked and deleted the contact.
