A Nigerian woman named Ashanty has opened up about the deep regret she feels over marrying her husband before they had financial stability.
She shared her story in a Facebook group on Thursday while responding to a post that asked married women to reveal mistakes they’ve made so others can learn from them.
Ashanty explained that she had supported her husband right from when they had nothing. She believed things would improve with time—and they did. But instead of reaping the rewards together, her husband abandoned her and their daughter for another woman.
“Starting life from nothing with someone because I believed in a better future was my mistake,” she wrote. “When things finally got better, he kicked me and our daughter out because of another woman. I truly regret it.”
Her post struck a chord with many others, as several married women also joined the conversation. Some spoke of how marrying too early and not having a stable income before marriage led to years of hardship and emotional pain.
