Nigerian music icon Tiwa Savage has opened up about a very personal decision — freezing her eggs.
The popular singer and mother of one shared that she made the move to freeze her eggs in case she ever wants to have more children down the line.
During a heartfelt chat with Zeze Mills, Tiwa, who is now 42, said she wishes she had taken the step much earlier in her life.
She used the opportunity to encourage women in their 30s to consider egg freezing as a way to manage their fertility options and avoid future regrets.
According to her, “Having my first child in my 30s felt right because I was financially and emotionally ready.” She then advised women in their 30s, whether they are sure about motherhood or not, to go ahead and freeze their eggs.
Tiwa added that even though she’s unsure about having more children, taking the step gives her peace of mind. “It’s like an insurance,” she said, pointing out that a woman’s egg count could drop without warning, possibly just when she decides she wants kids.
Because of this, she strongly supports egg freezing and wants more women to be aware of its benefits.
As a reminder, Tiwa Savage gave birth to her son in 2015 when she was 34, with her ex-husband Teebillz.
