Nollywood actress Evans Okoro has raised serious concerns about her safety, saying that her husband, Chibuzor Erikife, threatened to take her life after she requested a divorce.
In a video shared online, the actress emotionally revealed that she no longer feels safe in her own home. Many fans were shocked by her statement, especially since the couple got married just a few months ago, in April.
According to Evans, her husband is not the man she thought he was. She said the reality of living with him has been difficult and scary, which is why she wants to end the marriage.
“I’m scared for my life. Something serious is happening to me, and I must speak out. If I don’t, I might not be alive tomorrow. Some people may laugh, but I don’t care. The man I married is not right for me,” she said in the video.
She claimed that her husband threatened to kill her if she ever leaves him. Evans also mentioned that she has already reported the matter to the police and submitted a formal complaint.
“I don’t want to continue in this marriage. The bride price was never even paid. On the day of our traditional marriage, they forgot to pay it. My family reminded them two weeks ago. I just want him to leave me and my family alone. I’ve tried my best to make things work, but I can’t take it anymore.”
Evans further alleged that her husband only married her because he believed she had money and would support him financially.
She said, “Chibuzor thought I was rich. He came into my life when I was building a house. I wanted love, but things started going wrong quickly. Now, he doesn’t care about me. He doesn’t treat me like a wife, and even his family told me to keep praying. But this is beyond prayers—my life is in danger.”
Evans also shared that she recently travelled to Lagos for business and made some money. When she refused to send the money to her husband, it caused a major argument between them.
She added that there are disturbing rumours going around that he plans to kidnap and kill her. She ended her message by pleading with the public and authorities for help, saying she fears for her life.
