The charred remains of two Ghanaian ministers and six other people who died in a military helicopter crash were sadly removed from the crash site in sacks, highlighting the terrible impact of the accident.

Ghana’s Defence Minister, Edward Omane Boamah, and Environment Minister, Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, were among the eight victims who lost their lives in the crash that happened on Wednesday, August 6, in the southern part of the Ashanti region.

The military reported that the K9 helicopter took off from Accra in the morning and was flying northwest toward the gold-mining town of Obuasi. Sadly, it lost contact mid-flight and later the wreckage was discovered in the Adansi area of Ashanti.

Among the other victims were Alhaji Mohammad Muniru Limuna, the deputy national security coordinator and former agriculture minister, and Samuel Sarpong, the vice chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) party at the time.

After the crash, the badly burned remains of all eight victims, including the two ministers, were gathered from the scene in sacks, showing just how severe the crash was.

At this time, the cause of the crash is still unknown. The military has begun an investigation to find out what went wrong and what led to the tragic incident.
