Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has travelled to the United States to attend the wedding of his nephew and popular music star, David Adeleke, better known as Davido.

Davido had earlier confirmed that he and his wife, Chioma Avril Rowland, will be holding their white wedding ceremony in Miami, Florida, sometime in August 2025. He made this announcement during an interview aired on The Breakfast Club on Tuesday, April 8, 2025.

Governor Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, released a statement on Tuesday to address the concerns of the opposition party, All Progressives Congress (APC), about the governor’s sudden absence from public view.

According to the statement, Governor Adeleke flew out of Nigeria a few days ago using the family’s private jet to attend Davido’s wedding. Rasheed described Davido as a global music icon and emphasized that the wedding is a family celebration the governor couldn’t miss.

The spokesperson also extended an open invitation to members of the opposition party to join the joyous occasion, either by attending in person or virtually, highlighting the importance of coming together to celebrate.

Rasheed clarified that Governor Adeleke has not taken any official leave since assuming office in November 2022, and assured that the current trip would be a short one.

He added that the governor is committed to returning soon so he can continue focusing on his duties to the people of Osun State. In the meantime, Adeleke remains in active communication with his deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi, who is overseeing government activities while he’s away.
