A fire incident has destroyed the home of Alhaji Sulaiman Muhammad, the District Head of Lere. The house is located in the Gwallaga area of Bauchi city.

The unfortunate event was confirmed by Mallam Yunusa Ado, a respected traditional titleholder known as the Sa’in Tafawa Balewa. He explained that the fire broke out on Monday, August 4, 2025. At the time, the district head was not at home but in his palace in Zwall. The fire is believed to have started due to an electrical fault.

Mallam Yunusa stated that several important belongings and valuable items inside the house were damaged by the flames.

Thankfully, no one was injured, and no life was lost in the incident. “We are grateful to Almighty Allah that no lives were lost and no one was injured,” he added.

The Bauchi State Fire Service responded quickly and was able to control the fire. Neighbours also helped by moving a car out of the garage to prevent further damage.

Despite these efforts, the house and many of its contents were badly affected by the fire.
