US President Donald Trump has sent two American nuclear submarines to areas close to Russia.

This move comes after a tense exchange between Trump and a top Russian official. The disagreement was over Trump’s demand for Russia to stop its war in Ukraine.

The submarines were sent to what the US called “appropriate regions.”

Even though this action might seem dramatic, reports say it’s likely more symbolic. The US already has many nuclear submarines ready at any moment, so this may be a show of power rather than a direct threat.

However, this decision has added more tension between the two countries. Trump recently said he’s pushing his deadline forward for Russia to stop its actions in Ukraine.

Speaking at the White House, Trump said, “We had to take action. We must stay cautious. A threat came from a former Russian leader, and we didn’t see that as acceptable. So we’re protecting our country and our people.”
