Tottenham Hotspur captain, Son Heung-min, has announced that he will leave the club during the current summer transfer window after spending 10 years with them.
He made this known during a press conference before Tottenham’s friendly match against Newcastle United, which is set to take place at the Seoul World Cup Stadium on Sunday.
Speaking to reporters alongside Tottenham’s manager, Thomas Frank, Son thanked the fans for their continuous support and said he appreciated all the love he received throughout his time at the club.
The 33-year-old said, “I’m leaving as a more mature person. I thank Spurs fans for their love. I’ve done everything I can at this club, and now I need something new.”
Son joined Tottenham in 2015 after leaving German club Bayer Leverkusen.
In May 2025, Son won his first major trophy with Tottenham, lifting the UEFA Europa League after they defeated Manchester United 1-0 in the final.
There are strong rumours that Major League Soccer team, Los Angeles FC, is interested in signing Son this summer.
