Popular Nollywood actress Omotola Odunsi, who was widely known as Motola the Actor, has sadly passed away.

As of now, the exact cause of her death has not been shared with the public.

One of her colleagues, Akinola ‘Segbowe’ Akano, broke the news on Thursday, July 31, 2025, in an emotional Instagram post.

He posted screenshots of their last chat and some photos of Omotola. In the chat, she had told him she was feeling better, which made her death even more shocking.

In his message, he wrote: “Motola! It’s strange, but I tried checking on you that morning. You said you were fine and back! This is a rude shock, Omotola! Journey well, sister. God be with your family.”

Famous actor Odunlade Adekola, who had mentored Omotola in her acting career, also confirmed her passing by posting, “Jesus Christ. RIP Omotola.”

Before she went into acting full-time in 2019, Omotola worked as a credit officer at a government-owned bank.

She acted in many well-known Yoruba movies including Ajanaku, Darkness, Ogo Oluwa, Dagogo, Ariran, Doctor Adunni, Folagbade, President Kuti, Amonata, Officer Adaeze, Ifedayo, Ayanmo Ire, and Lisabi: The Uprising.

Her death is a great loss to Nollywood and to the many fans who loved her work. May she rest in peace.
