Former Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Biodun Olujimi, has said Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, is no longer a major threat to President Bola Tinubu’s re-election chances in 2027.
She made this known during an appearance on Politics Today, a political programme on Channels Television, where she analyzed the current political climate and chances of opposition figures in the next general elections.
According to Olujimi, Obi’s influence in the 2023 elections came largely from his strong public speaking skills. However, she believes the same approach won’t sway voters in 2027 unless he comes up with a fresh and convincing message.
She explained that President Tinubu is a seasoned political figure with years of experience and understanding of Nigeria’s political system. This, in her view, puts him in a stronger position than any potential rival, including Obi.
Olujimi, who once served as Senate Minority Leader, concluded that defeating Tinubu in 2027 would be a difficult task, given his background and the way he navigates the political terrain.
