Revenue: No Governor complains, they’re in ‘oil boom’ era — Presidency

The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communications, Daniel Bwala, has said that Nigerian governors are now enjoying a period of financial comfort due to an increase in government revenue.

Bwala shared this during an interview on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television, on Wednesday. He said that since President Tinubu came into office, no governor has come out to complain about not being able to pay salaries.

He described this moment as a type of “oil boom” for the governors, saying it’s one of the best financial times in the history of Nigerian states.

Bwala pointed out that there was a time when 27 states were struggling financially and couldn’t pay workers’ salaries. According to him, that kind of crisis no longer exists. In fact, he said if any governor fails to pay workers today, people would view that leader very negatively, like someone heartless.

He added that governors now have enough money to do more than just pay salaries. There’s enough revenue to meet minimum wage demands, fund major projects, pay off state debts, and still make future development plans.
