This sad incident has caused outrage in the community. Chief Ovuozourie Samuel Macaulay, who was once Secretary to the Delta State Government, condemned the brutal act.

During a visit to Happy’s family on Tuesday, July 29, Macaulay—who also holds a traditional title as the Okiroro of the Isoko nation—used the opportunity to speak on the need for community policing. He said it’s important to bring security closer to people in local communities.

According to him, this is not the first time such a crime has happened in the area. He revealed that three separate killings have happened in the community within just eight months. He stressed that urgent action is needed to stop this growing trend.

“This kind of crime can happen to anyone,” he warned. “We must do something fast before more lives are lost.”
