Joe Igbokwe, a top member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has spoken out following the sad death of businessman Ifesinachi Onyekere, popularly known as Fish Magnet. According to him, the real problem behind the insecurity in the South-East is not Fulani herdsmen, but Igbos themselves.
Reacting on his official Facebook page, Igbokwe said that the killings and kidnappings happening in the region are being wrongly blamed on Fulani herdsmen. He believes that it is actually Igbos destroying their own land and people.
“The lies about who is responsible for the killings in the South-East cannot continue,” he wrote. “It is Igbo killing Igbo, not Fulani herdsmen. This is not our way of life. This is truly sad.”
His statement comes after the recent wave of violence in South-East Nigeria, especially in states like Anambra and Imo. Several people have lost their lives as a result of kidnappings and targeted attacks.
One of the most recent victims was Ifesinachi Onyekere, a well-known businessman in Anambra State. He was kidnapped from his home in Ezinifite, a community in Awka South Local Government Area. Sadly, his body was found days later, leaving the community in shock and mourning.
Meanwhile, popular social media activist, Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, has announced plans to honour the late Fish Magnet. He revealed that he will be coming to Anambra State to organize a candlelight procession in memory of the late entrepreneur.
The killing of Fish Magnet has sparked fresh concerns about rising insecurity in the South-East, as well as renewed debates about who is really behind the violence.
