The Court of Appeal in Akure, Ondo State, has confirmed Lucky Aiyedatiwa as the winner of the Ondo State governorship election. The judgment was delivered on Thursday, July 31.

A panel of three justices, led by Justice Yargata Nimpar, gave a unanimous decision in support of Aiyedatiwa’s victory in the November 16, 2024 election organized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

This latest ruling also backed an earlier decision made by the Ondo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which had upheld Aiyedatiwa’s election as valid.

The appeal brought before the court by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Agboola Ajayi, was dismissed.

According to the court, the appeal lacked merit and had no strong grounds to overturn the election result.
