2027: Peter Obi is part of the coalition from day one. He is yet to be an ADC member- Spokesman

Peter Obi has not left the opposition coalition, according to Bolaji Abdullahi, who is the group’s spokesman. He said news claiming that Obi has quit the group is false.

Speaking in a recent interview with Channels TV, Abdullahi made it clear that Obi has been part of the coalition from the very beginning and still remains a strong member. However, he pointed out that Obi has not yet officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which is the party chosen by the coalition.

Abdullahi explained that Obi asked the coalition leadership for time to finish some responsibilities in his current party, the Labour Party, before fully moving to ADC.

“Peter Obi has been with the coalition since day one,” Abdullahi said. “He has attended nearly all the meetings we’ve had.”

He added that Obi’s delay in joining ADC is due to his involvement in elections happening in the Labour Party. Abdullahi also mentioned that the same arrangement was made with Nasir El-Rufai, who was also allowed to complete political work in his party before officially coming into the ADC.
